CET: CHABAD EVENTS TEAM

The Chabad Events Team (CET) has been set up to raise funds to help defray Chabad’s growing budget.  Events such as these are so important, not just as a wonderful, warming and welcoming community event; but for the very important funds they raise which go such a long way towards helping those who are so vulnerable.

We have had another successful year, with numerous events which support the overall budget at Chabad Gants Hill.

In particular, the funds raised with an overall target of some £10,000 plus per annum are earmarked to support the life-saving and life changing services that Chabad provides, whether its addiction; relationships or counselling of those in need Chabad is always there and hence we feel the need to raise funds to assist Rabbi Sufrin in leading this side of Chabad’s success and never is anybody turned away due to lack of funds.

Our Annual Quiz, in conjunction with Chabad Epping, was a sell out with quiz master Michael Finger.  The atmosphere in the room was warm, noisy with its 120 plus guests.

Our 5th Whisky Tasting Evening, with the fantastic Katie Groves of Milroys, was a special evening.  The whiskies were great, the room was full and the “banter”, after a few drinks, could not be beat.  Suspicions are that the Rabbi had a few too, as his message, serious, of course, as he shared the challenges of the week trying to respond to those in need, but the humour had us all in stitches.  By popular demand, Katie returns for our 6th Whisky Evening on 28th October, 2019 – don’t miss it, book now, spaces are limited.

We arranged a visit and tour to the House of Commons followed by a tour to County Hall and a walk along The Embankment, a really interesting day for all who attended.

Overall, our events have raised so far this year, £8,000 towards our target.

All this could not happen without the support of a great committee – Gary Boorman, Mandi Dobias, Pippa Land and Graham and Laurel Nygate and the backing of Rabbi Sufrin MBE, Brian Mitchell and the Chabad team at Gants Hill.

After many years working for the greater good of Chabad, we are urgently seeking some new and young blood to join our team.  The meetings have a purpose, but in addition, we have become really good friends.  Please help us to keep it going for the next decade – feel free to get in touch with me.
